Appeals court tosses Dorman suit challenging IL ban on short-barreled rifles – Cook County Record

In their ruling, the appellate justices said the Supreme Court and other federal courts have consistently ruled that short-barreled weapons are not protected by the Second Amendment from state bans, like Illinois’. They pointed to prior Supreme Court rulings which indicate the courts believe short-barreled firearms have been designed to be concealable and are likely to be used to commit crimes.

Chicago and Illinois have among highest unemployment rates in country – FOX Business

The Bureau of Labor Statistics found that in July, Illinois had a 5.2 percent unemployment rate, trailing only Nevada’s 5.4 percent jobless rate for the highest in the nation. Illinois’ unemployment rate is double that of the top five states with the lowest unemployment rates – from South Dakota’s 2 percent to Nebraska’s 2.6 percent – and well above the 4.5 percent national rate.
