In regards to the violence, death, and destruction occurring on a daily basis, its 80% black, 15% Hispanic, 2% unknown, and 3% of those damn racist white folks. Almost 2000 shootings in Chicago so far in 2020 and 7 have involved police shooting suspects. A little over a quarter of a percent. Defund those trigger happy cops.

there is a higher risk of being shot on the southside than dying of COVID-19. Pritzker clammored for federal resources and they opened up McCormick Place as a hospital, an unprecedented move. Now he is silent and I guess he figures this is Lori’s problem. Failed leadership all around.

CPD is doing what society has told them they want them to do. Show up after its over, write the report and go park in the shade and wait for the next shooting. If they try and do proactive Policing, the officers get into trouble and are now being charged with crimes. Why would a Police officer proactively do anything at this time. Some times what the Police have to do to maintain the peace and enforce the law…is ugly and difficult to watch, but they are dealing with ugly people. Society wants the Police to proactively Police…but then evaluate… Read more »

There seems to be some discrepancies in the media over just how many were shot and killed this weekend (4th of July). Is it possible that the lead poisoning death certificates are intentionally being labeled “Chinese Virus” in order to get the $$,$$$ that comes with that cause of death?

I no longer care. Fewer Biden voters. They voted for Beetlejuice. They hate the police that may do something to stop this. Let them slaughter each other.

Highest taxes in the country. Highest murder rate in the country.
Cops retire at age 45 and live in luxury homes in Florida.
Feel like you are being screwed?

At the Yahoo “Money” website they said that Illinois is the 9th best state to move to. One reason is life expectancy at 79 years. Right between Pennsylvania and Idaho. I don’t know what they are smoking or what kind of drugs they are taking but they can come and pay my property tax’s and see where they will put Illinois next year.

CPD’s low numbers is attributed to resignations, retirements, medical leaves and deaths. Even at full strength, they can’t police, because they’re told to stand around. If CPD tried to police, they become the next Derek Chauvin.
☹️?

DEFUND THE POLICE!

These numbers do make you wonder whether having a police force is making much of a difference. On the other hand, even if the police did their jobs perfectly, it doesn’t matter if the system refuses to prosecute and if the courts release the convicted. It’s all so pointless and the police on the street know it. I assume the police have zero job satisfaction, zero morale, and only do the job for a paycheck. Regardless of profession, this type of work environment produces poor results and ends up loosing it’s best people.

CPD is like the the maintenance staff of an office building and the Cook County states attorney office is their tenant. Mop the floor on a rainy day, the next guy in leaves a trail of water behind him. Clean the glass on the revolving door, the next person through leaves fingerprints. Lather, rinse, repeat.

If anything, it shows there are too FEW police. They can’t respond to the absolute mayhem occurring in the war zone that is the city of Chicago. This is with the 12 hours shifts and an extra 1,200 police patrolling. It’s a war on the thin veneer of civilization.

I’ve been shocked at the number of jobs I hear in my zone. Definitely need more PO’s.

There needs to be more cooperation with the police. A few weeks ago a toddler was killed instead of his dad. It didn’t sound like the dad was cooperating with police to get the guys who shot his baby. This makes the job virtually impossible. The only other way is to get more high tech surveillance everywhere.

You have to wonder what kind of individual would remain a Chicago police officer. Someone who wants to make a positive difference patrolling the community would soon realize the effort is futile. The politicians don’t support you, the legal system fights you, and the people in the community despise you. The officer is eventually beaten by the system and just goes thru the motions or finds a new job where he/she is appreciated.

The school spends $45,000 per student, but just 2.4% of students read at grade level.
