There is no “Control” without the Police being allowed to do their actual jobs. In this environment, that would at times be ugly. Lightfoot keeps trying to appeal to people with reason. She thinks she is dealing with reasonable people, who can be talked to and reasoned with… but really, she is asking criminals to be reasonable. Not going to happen. The politicians and community leaders are going to be ineffective here, the criminals have no fear of the Police or jail. In that environment, this is what you get. Lawlessness. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s strategy of policing sucks.

She lost control of the City on May 29, 2020 and has not regained control.

Since then Chicago has had Blue Smurfs instead of police.

Blue Smurfs v Gangbangers.

Advantage Gangbangers.

If this unfortunate little girl is the only child killed on the 4th, Chicago probably considers it a success. My suggestion, take all the Chicago gang bangers and other scum out to a shooting range and teach them how to aim and shoot. It sort of goes along the same thought process as giving needles to drug users. Maybe the kids of Chicago can survive if the adults learn how to hit the intended target (another adult).

You wrote a few hours too soon. A mass shooting with 8 shot, 4 dead, included a 14 year old child who was killed in Englewood.

The cynicist and pragmatist in me , says a few less criminals will be born in the future becuase of her death. Sad to have such a low statististical view of such, but such is statistics. They are color blind , until you note the colors.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
