Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Georgia reopened on May 1st and their seven day rolling average of new cases from May 4th to May 18th dropped 18%. Yeah, we don’t want to be Georgia. Not to say one caused the other, but reopening is not a death knell for the people of Georgia. What is this Democrat thing now with the word “science?” It’s used like they use “racist.” Where once they invoke the word, any challenge to it is treated like you just denied the Holocaust. Anyone who actually understands real science understands that it is rarely “settled.” Science is a process, not a result. It is a continuous search for empirical truth in our physical world. And science is about empirical findings, NOT models.
