Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

There are factions that want you to stop Tweeting and posting on Facebook so only their views are heard on social media.
Expect an attack, and when they attack don’t sympathize or apologize.
Instead ignore it, or fight back, and/or if they are asking for your resignation then ask for their resignation, etc.
So in that spirit, it is Paul Krugman, Justin Wolfers, Max Auffhammer, and Abdoulaye Ndiaye that should resign.

if someone posts something on twitter or facebook, but no one is there to read it, does it count? because if you’re not in the facebook or twitter universe to begin with then it doesn’t really matter what anyone posts. I don’t live much in those places, I get a glimpse of what they post, but I’m not there. Conservatives post all they want in conservative media and there’s no cancel culture there at all. Harold Uhlig would not have posted on Twitter if he thought no one would read his message.
So what is your point about his tweet?
You believe he should not have sent the tweet?
You believe he should only post on conservative media, the federalist, amgreatness, breitbart, etc?
So he cant’ be controlled by the twitter mob?
I’ve thought about your opening question a lot over the years actually. I’m also not living in those social media climates. Never have. I get what is generally important in the tweet/post universe from other sources. It feels healthier to be detached from these social media giants. Gives me more time to practice my Rex Kwon Do!
There’s a simple way to stop most cancel culture:
STOP TWEETING!
The mob seems to only go after public tweets and facebook posts. That’s what attracts them. Private musings seem to be mostly respected as your friends and family members know better than to rat you out to the mob. STOP TWEETING. You would think they’d learn, but no, even those that know they are a target, they can’t seem to stop spewing whatever idea they have on their mind, only adding fuel to the mobs’ fires.
Diversity of thought is a crime punishable by removal of your livelihood and freedom of thought. Orwell wrote about this famously in 1984, we are only about 40 years behind schedule.
