Widespread damage reported in downtown Chicago after night of looting – WGNTV (Chicago)

It wasn’t immediately clear what led to the unrest, which began shortly after midnight, but anti-police graffiti was seen in the area; Police reported a police involved shooting near Michigan Avenue and Lake Street.  Hours earlier, dozens of people had faced off with police after officers shot and wounded a person Sunday afternoon in the city’s Englewood neighborhood.

This is what Communists and perverts do. I’m only shocked that it hadn’t occurred earlier.

For over a decade, this has been a regular event, covered by CWB Chicago and Second City Cop. ?

The crimes are reported on Second City Cop and CWB Chicago. Those sites are searchable. ??

I’m not sure these are real sites. I fail to believe it without a link.

They are blog sites that contain links to online news reports.

However in 2020, most online news reports from 2009 are gone, but are available for a fee or through a library.

A cop site will have information not found in mainstream media too.

Since you are the only one making that claim I’m going to have to assume it is false without backup. If a reliable poster like PM or debtsor or Illinois Entrepreneur were also making the claim I would be inclined to believe this.

Do you live in Chicago?

I live in Chicago and follow various media. Debtsor isn’t here. I posted the truth. Thank you, for your bias. ?

I have been watching CWB for at least a year and I think it is very credible. https://cwbchicago.com/. I have yet to see an article there I questioned. Second City Cop, however, has had occasional errors.

Any/Every website has or will have errors. Cops fighting crime would know about Michigan Avenue crime past and present. ??

I would think if you made the assertion it would generally be your responsibility to provide the evidence.

I gave you the site names. Since you don’t believe me, you may look those sites up. ??

Did anyone watch beetlejuice’s press conference last night? Everything she said “you don’t do” she and the other democrap hacks do to small business. What a joke.

I do live around the Mag Mile. We only live here because it’s a short commute for my business, but otherwise I have no reason to be here. I no longer enjoy what the city has to offer. Now, we have listed our home and are willing to endure the commute in order to get out. Eventually, I will move the business as well, but the lease prevents that for the time being. My next prediction is that many of these stores are going to start getting shutters, like what you see in New Orleans and New York at night.… Read more »

It’s interesting you mention “property rights”. One of the main tenants of BLM’s marxist ideology is that the police are only here to protect property, not people. It’s a dangerous ideology since our very foundation of liberty is built on property rights. It’s disturbing to the core.

People who live in and around the Mag Mile need to get out now! Take what you can today and get out to Naperville, or Schaumburg. Pritzker, Lightfoot, and Foxx will not protect the city!

Downtown Naperville had riots and looting occur in early June after a BLM march so it’s not like the burbs are 100% safe from this.

Start talking to the neighbors you can, on how you are going to protect your neighborhoods should these thugs decide to come for your neighborhood.

Lana,

My neighbors are outside of Illinois. My wife and I left the craziness of my old home state over three years ago.

When will the mayor shutdown the Mag Mile? If she can shut down Montrose beach why not downtown. I did not see any social distancing in the looting and riots. The Walking Dead can easily make a spinoff on what’s going on OR is this how the show started?

The mayor has kept the beaches closed because she knows that there will be violence and mayhem at the beaches if they were to open. She cannot spread the police up and down the lakefront trying to prevent the violence. Beachfront mayhem is a very bad visual, neighborhood violence, not so much..

Wait, criminal behavior? This is the result of years, YEARS, of progressive, liberal, democrat policy… But, hey, thank God the beaches are empty.

The Wildlings have been given Michigan Ave. by Pritzker, Lightfoot, and Foxx.

Interesting how that was discussed here over the weekend and it has now happened.

This is only the beginning of all the fun.
Cops are out numbered. Pensions are spiking, Florida Luxury homes soon for all cops.
Raise Taxes to pay for $100,000 plus pensions at age 45. Cops do not stay in Chicago.
Chicago is a goner, Illinois is a goner. All hard working honest taxpayers should be a goner.
Leave ASAP. Get out of town.

if you reside in Illinois, you cannot see the forrest for the trees. Once out, it all becomes clear. Illinois citizens are slaves to the state. Everything you work for the state thinks it owns. Imagine what the taxes will be a couple years from now. Gotham City.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
