This is all BS. The media is distorting this. First Class Mail does not guarantee delivery time. I’ve had things take almost ten days to get delivered. I wouldn’t trust my ballot to First Class Mail. The people crying about their medication taking too long need to complain the their provider. I would guess that in an effort to shave $4 from shipping the provider is using the lower cost First Class Parcel which has no delivery guarantee. Germany, UK & netherlands have already privitized thier postal service’s. Germany’s postal system is apparently a big success. I haven’t been in an actual post office in ages because the local ups on the corner does everything post office does for a fraction of the hassle, realize they’re not delivering mail. Every year i recieve less & less mail because everything done on internet. Believe Dejoys removing sorting machines are further attempts effecincy thru privitize postal services because truth is much of the sorting & transportation is already outscourced and unions are up in arms. https://www.newsweek.com/uk-germany-others-have-privatized-their-postal-service-would-it-work-us-1524729
The truth about USPS mailboxes is that, other than occasionally using one specifically at or inside a post office facility, I haven’t trusted one of those things in more than 30 years.
P.S. Even using those boxes is highly risky because a large percentage of the time the letter gets lost anyway.
