‘Dear God, stop the nonsense’: Chicago mayor unloads on McConnell over Covid relief – Politico

"To basically turn your back on state and local governments at a time when we are hemorrhaging and looking at severe service cuts, putting people out on the streets, and unemployment, cutting back on services that actually could be a stimulus to the economy — that’s unbelievably short-sighted," Lightfoot said.

The city of Chicago and state of Illinois minority patronage workers for the most part have not worked since March. Lori wants more taxpayer money so she can hire more south and west side patronage workers to help her get re-elected. She deserves nothing as does Pritzker.

Lori Lightfoot, you aren’t a Democratic Ward Committeeperson or Cook County Democratic Party Chair. ☹️

Lori, you can’t behave like Jane Byrne and Harold Washington, because it won’t work. ☹️

It looks like Lori’s habit of insulting people she needs won’t end with Trump.

“cutting back on services that actually could be a stimulus to the economy” Lori if you do that and it results in lower taxes then that put’s more money in peoples pocket which would stimulate the economy. Sorry to tell you but hiring more union employees and increasing the size of government has the opposite effect. Illinois, Chicago, and Cook County have a lot of bloat that can be cut, hope it doesn’t cost you too many votes.

It isn’t known if Lori believes in Gud. Her behavior doesn’t reflect it. ☹️

You turned your back on all the people and business owners of your city, and yes you do have the power to do something about it. The chickens are coming home to roost, now you must live in the environment you and your like created; oh yeah, I thought you were an outsider. My bad, I was wrong, Larry. Tell Jabba to stop eating so much so you can get some scraps.

Well said Juicy! We are truly living in Larry’s Chicago now – she’s no different from the mayors before her.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
