"Short-term programs or police crackdowns won’t be sufficient...'You may need to get a generation of people through good programs before you start to get traction,' said Maryann Mason, director of violence and injury research at the Buehler Center for Health Policy and Economics at Northwestern University."

No it won’t. Bring back Al Capone and his bunch. Chicago was actually safer under his rule than Lori Lightfoots.

Simply leave your police to do their job, make new prisons and throw away the key and in a few months you’ll see Chicago as clean as can be if you get rid of the Democrats who are destroying it.

Nonsense, you can’t reform gangbangers and get them into a normal lifestyle; they all need to be locked up and then work on making the next generation better. Individuals can make their own decisions within the system get into a normal lifestyle as the crackdown on gangs continues. The question is how to you change a culture that glorifies thuggery, so that even the most law abiding and civil of individuals get mistaken for the thugs?

The rappers in the videos have guns with scopes, lots of $$$$, baggies of illegal drugs, they talk about killing people. It’s a step above and beyond from the mainstream Gangsta Rap of the 1990’s. This is a fairly accurate description of street life in Chicago. Lori Lightfoot is delusional if she thinks the allure of the gangster life is going to be overcome by ‘programs’, community involvement. They’ll basically telling gangbangers to give… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
