During the virus surge last fall, IDPH increased the outbreak criteria to five, with the exception of some health care settings, “so local health departments could best handle the volume,” according to agency officials. But on Aug. 9, the state health department shifted back to the two related cases threshold — the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s suggested definition — and officials said they have no plans to return to the looser criteria anytime soon.
If this bill passes, say goodbye to local control over all Illinois parks and expect to see open drug and alcohol use, needles, no sanitation and fire hazards, but no ordinary park users.
