Hidden In The Reconciliation Bill: A Retirement Plan Mandate That Will Take Most People By Surprise – Forbes

"For employers who already offer a 401(k) or similar plan, nothing would change; this is targeted at small employers who do not now offer any such plan. In some respects, this would be similar to the autoenrollment plans now in operation or under implementation in Oregon, California, Illinois, and elsewhere."

Devil in details: low-value/high commission “choices” are rammed down throats of ‘beneficiaries’. “…under the new federal mandate, employers would be obliged to select a specific IRA in which to enroll their employees, rather than merely forwarding payroll deductions to the state. It appears that they would choose from a list of approved providers. Second, the various state programs have had extended phase-ins; the federal mandate applies to all employers with 5 or more employees from day one, and there appears to be no analysis of how it would be for these small employers to do so. Third, the program requires… Read more »

This bill is likely DOA. At least I’m hoping. There’s just too many fundamentally transforming, and expensive, mandates that Biden is trying to pass with the tiny of margins. This isn’t 1933 and Roosevelt isn’t president with a sweeping majority during the middle of the depression. This is 2021, a cabal of power hungry bureaucrats (and Jill Biden) stole the election from Trump, and they barely have a majority in either house.

You really need to get over this stolen election fantasy you seem to believe in. Even the Arizona audit done by an auditing firm chosen by the republicans showed, not only that Trump lost, but that he lost by a few hundred more votes than originally thought. It’s tough to take you seriously when you’re this delusional about the election results.

They can’t get over it. Delusion, it’s their new religion. If any election outcome is not to their liking then of course it must have been stolen. All hail Trump.

Your religion is that the 2020 election was perfect, most transparent election ever. Biden had 81,000,000 votes and each and every one of them was legit!

In my humble opinion, Trump supporters would be better off moving away from the election cheating stuff and moving on to the media fraud claim. I think it is unquestionable that media distortions, censorship, and outright lies flipped not only the presidency but many down-ballot races.

There was plenty of media fraud but voters are so partisan these days its not like it would have made much of a difference despite that one poll that said 6% of Biden voters may have changed their mind if they knew about the laptop. The fraud angle is legit: Brown County, WI literally, not figuratively, but literally, gave the keys to the storage room containing the ballots to a Zuckerberg operative. This actually happened. You can read about it online. Zuckerberg’s operation sent operatives to 5 key cities in WI – Kenosha, Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay and IIRC LaCrosse… Read more »

I would be interested in which media distortions, censorship, and outright lies affected the presidential race and which down-ballot races were affected as well. Is there credible research and polling, after the fact, that shows voters changed their minds do to what you believe?

There sure is. I need to write a column about this and other evidence. Everybody talks about ballot fraud, but there is no question whatsoever that media distortion and lies flipped the election. The suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story, spun as a Russian conspiracy, no doubt dit it alone: https://cdn.mrc.org/TPC-MRC+Biden+Voter+Messaging+Survey+Analysis+Nov+2020_final.pdf The down ballot coat tail effect is well established, so countless tight races also were flipped.

The difference between the Trump/Russia election collusion and the Zuckerberg election collusion is that entire premise of the Trump Russia collusion was based on lies and complete fabrication. But the Zuckerberg Election collusion is real: Brown County ACTUALLY GAVE THE KEYS TO THE ROOM WITH THE ABSENTEE Ballots to a ‘grant mentor’ for the Center for Tech and Civic Life which awarded a $1.6M grant to Brown County (Green Bay area) WI to “support election administration in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.” Just imagine if the role were reversed, and Trump operatives were given the keys to, say, the… Read more »

I look forward to the column and the analysis. In an election that wasn’t that close, Trump losing by 7 million votes and 70+ electoral votes, I wonder how much the Hunter Biden story, as well as others you will cite, would have actually changed the outcome.

“Trump losing by 7 million votes and 70+ electoral votes”

Fake news. State legislatures are investigating this as we speak.

They will continue to find nothing but yet the delusional will still believe the election was stolen. Trump lost bigly. Anything else is fake news.

But, couldn’t that be said about all elections to varying degrees? If it can’t be proven as stolen in solid ways that truly matter then sooner or later the side that lost has to accept that they LOST. How can democracy survive otherwise? The “feeling” that it was stolen is not proof and never going to be proof. That’s essentially the argument so far.

If it and acts like a dead duck, most would say its a dead duck. In this case “most” is something like 70% or was a few months ago at least. The other 30% swear its a beautiful soaring eagle.

Not religious about it at all but I require proof unlike the religious cult that believes the election was stolen because, well, they believe it. You continue to promote conspiracy theories because that’s all you have. No proof just speculation. Even after the AZ audit showed that Biden got MORE votes you continue to peddle crazy because that is your religion. No matter the outcome of any audit you and your ilk will just dig deeper into your religion. I’m sure selling these conspiracy theories will help at the next election. All hail trump.

Merely repeating the mass media’s interpretation of the AZ is fake news. The audit actually showed something different – that enough people in AZ voted two, three, and in at least 12 cases, voted four times, in a large enough margin to flip the election. The audit also showed that thousands of late arriving mail-in ballots were marked reviewed and verified despite lacking signatures. The guy who analyzed the ballot signatures even found that some of the ballots appeared to be fraudulent, and even casually suggested they could have been photoshopped. There are also 50,000 something ballots that they cannot… Read more »

That’s what it showed only if you read the fake news. If you listened to the audit hearings or read the report, you’d have a far different opinion….Did you see how many double, triple and quadruple votes were made? How many ballots were ‘verified’ but lacked signatures? How many ballots had discrepancies, like the verified stamp behind the ballot arrow, as if it was photoshopped? The AZ senate hired the guy behind echomail, who holds the original patent for email, and designed the white house email system in 1993, to analyze the ballots. He all but said that some ballots… Read more »

In each and everyone of the examples you’ve given here from the report how many of these ballots voted for Biden and how many voted for Trump?

Go check out the report yourself. The AZ attorney general is preparing legal action against Maricopa county based upon the discrepancies.

I’m guessing the AZ attorney general will make a big fuss about this to appease the Trump voters but in the end not much will come of it just like the 60 cases of “voter fraud” that were brought in front of judges by Trump’s lawyers and dismissed.

The fraudulent election claims continue because the thought that a majority of Americans voted for someone obviously not capable of running a McDonald’s, much less the free world, is too disturbing to contemplate. They are trying to believe that their fellow Americans could not possibly have done such a thing.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
