Paul R. Cicero, of the Greater Rockford Airport Authority Board of Commissioners: "Global forces demolished our industrial dominance in screws, fasteners, machine tools and defense department contracts. Major corporations moved from our area or downsized. Our citizens want to move beyond being known as no. 1 in negative lists."
Is this the same Paul Cicero who was the Capo in Good Fellows? Pauly didn’t move for no one. Selling your airport as a maintenance facility is difficult attracting customers already invested in maintenance bases isn’t going to work. Why move to Rockford? Sell your city!

Sorry but the armpit known as Rockford is never coming back as long as much nicer Janesville/Beloit continue to exist a few minutes drive to the north. That pesky state line make all the difference!
Sad but so so true. Until IL gets it’s sh*t together and realizes it’s not competing against LA or NYC but rather Nashville and Jacksonville, the long tail of small and medium sized businesses will continue to exodus and all the shiny woke global corp HQ in the Loop wont matter didley squat. The execs who fly in from the coasts can look out their empire of dirt before flitting off to their Palm Beach estates to wine and dine with gov Lard-Ass ( Pritzker) on the polo fields.
110% agree. Jets are flying over my house in Boone County a few times a night. One at 9PM then at 11:05 then 3:10 AM does not include the day flights. Hard to sleep many nights. It’s like living close to O’Hare. I shop and buy gas in Beloit many times. Gas is $3.10 and sales tax is 5.5%
