Data Shows Fewer Than 10 ICU Beds Available for Hospital Patients in 4 Illinois Regions – NBC5 (Chicago)

Advocate Health Care, the largest health system in Illinois, said that it's currently treating 935 COVID patients in Illinois and Wisconsin, nearly three times more than eight weeks ago. A spokesperson said the situation is growing more challenging by the day—beds are tight, wait times are long and team members are strained.

During the holidays when many avoid elective surgeries, hospitals close sections to reduce staffing and routine upkeep. Saying four beds available in ICU doesn’t mean unoccupied space couldn’t be used as needed. If it becomes critical, governor Hog Head can open McCormick place. Shallow deception.

A nurse is quoted as saying she has 8 patients in ICU, 5 of whom are COVID positive. She did not say that COVID is the reason they are in ICU.
