As crazy as it sounds, Chicago has been surprisingly tolerant of legal and valid CCL holders defending themselves against criminal acts. Good to learn that smart progressives know they need to carry and have carry permits. Lightford’s hubby is no fool. If the jackers believe that their victims may shoot back, the jacking crime wave may ebb. Until then, jackers have little to fear. They have been unlikely to be arrested and if arrested unlikely to be prosecuted. Very low risk high return crime. No wonder we are getting more and more of it.
This is truly a remarkable story. But does anyone really expect a progressive to ‘see the light’, admit they were wrong, and change course? Extremely unlikely, but we can wish.
