This type of situation isn’t going away anytime soon. Mental health issues are extremely difficult to address. Combined with the breakdown of the traditional family unit, there are an ever increasing number of human time bombs living among us. An incredibly complex problem to address, our fearless leaders don’t know where to start. In the aftermath of these tragedies you hear the same tired lines about the perpetrator being quiet, odd or friendless. Social media often documents the warning signs that no one did anything about. The frequency with which we see these tragedies seems to be increasing.

Saw Durbin being interviewed from downtown Highland Park today on MSNBC again calling for more restrictions on guns etc…. the usual. I really wish I had been in HP while he was being interviewed so I could ask him why he has never once shown up at a mass shooting in Chicago. Or where he was when carjackers killed an immigrant restaurant worker in Wrigleyville. Or what he had to say about the felon who shot and killed a grandfather on the Steveson Expressway. Or why he wasn’t outside the Chicago-State Red Line station in May after two men fired… Read more »

Remember the words – “Shall Not Be Infringed”. These mass shootings have nothing to do with Gun Regulation or Infringing upon the 2nd Amendment. If someone wants to get a gun or use a vehicle or a knife they will find a way. Push Back on these Red Flag laws that are Unconstitutional and will not make anyone safer.

Lion’s choice – the parents made the decision to homeschool this kid. In hindsight I dont know how they failed to take advantage of the incredible resources Highland Park High School has to deal with emotionally disturbed students. District 113 has lots of resources. I do see some parallels so far with Adam Lanza. The father sponsored the kid’s FOID card despite a suicide attempt and threat to kill others. Like Lanza, the kid was isolated and was home schooled. We do need to find a profile over these types of young men to identify them.

All the recent tragedies come down to the mental health of young men who feel marginalized by today’s society. Maybe some of the billions government passes out to able bodied people to not work can be used for services to help these directionless young men. I hate that it’s come to this, put maybe there needs to be mental health officers that monitor these young men and track their social media, gun permits, and interactions with law enforcement. Everyone in local communities knows who these people are. In fact, they can probably be identified in grade school or early high… Read more »

My question is where were the parents? They are the ones who should look after their kids, not leave it up to a “mental health officer” to figure things out.

I get it and agree with you. There’s an article out today about the mother that might explain some things. Today the concept of parental responsibility is not what it used to be, to say the least. Hence, the cultural breakdown we all see. This stuff was not happening in the 1950’s.

The shooter is apparently trans-gender

  • The man held by police in connection with the mass shooting at a July Fourth parade planned the attack for weeks — and dressed like a woman to avoid detection

So the most important thing is that we use his/her/its preferred pronouns

Seen a lot about his social media posts. A few fundamental questions: How did he become a person of interest? Is he being charged or are they holding him until they have enough evidence to charge? How did he acquire his weapon? How did a guy that looks like he couldn’t organize a sub sandwich manage to scale a rooftop, fire off sixty rounds over a period of minutes, and climb down off the rooftop without being detected? How did he manage to evade police, who were in the immediate area, for a period of hours? Lastly, why does the… Read more »

Massive social media surveillance by the three letter agencies guarantees they have a very long list of clowns just like this one. Question is, what do they do with those long lists?

The freak was making videos about shooting up a school and drawing pictures of mass shootings where he gets shot by police. This is the parents’ fault. They created this monster. We should also know what ssri’s he was on too, seems to be a common link with these incel shooters.

And heavy marijuana use. There’s a strong link between heavy marijuana use at a young age and psychosis. A lot of people who knew him said he was a big time stoner. Where are all the cannabis murders? Hiding in plain site. https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/05/15/ann-coulter-these-are-real-high-crimes/

Debtsor – Bingo! I first became interested in the phenomena of cannabis induced psychosis when I read Alex Berenson’s 2019 book on the subject. Berenson received death threats over his book, well, because the pro pot lobby really likes to get high. And state and local governments want the tax revenues. Critics of Berenson dismissed his book because they felt he merely demonstrated correlation rather causation, never mind that reasonable people find the correlations very high and a huge warning signal. I then joined a group led by a remarkable woman, Laura Stack, who lost her son due to cannabis… Read more »

Illinois Democrats Introduced Legal Marijuana As The Fix For Illinois’ Social Problems — They Have Actually Unleashed A Monster — Psychosis, Addiction, Chronic Vomiting: As Weed Becomes More Potent, Teens Are Getting Sick – New York Times;

The Times is reacting to a growing body of peer reviewed science which is proving Berenson correct in his views. You know that the problems are real if the Times felt compelled to report on it. Their readers are for the most part very much in the pot is benign camp. The problem in Illinois is that the politicians are economically illiterate so it is difficult to have a meaningful discussion over the costs of externalities.

The ditch weed of the 60’s – 90’s is far weaker than then pure THC primo buds cultivated extracted and sold as dabs or vapes today. It’s barely even the same drug. There’s some evidence that a lot of these gang banger murderers are high 24/7, they get high, drive around, and while in some psychosis shoot indiscriminately at their rivals, hitting innocent bystanders in the process. That pastor in that Trib article alluded to this a few months back. Keep in mind that the legal market for cannabis is big but because it is so expensive, there is a… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
