This year, Martinez said the district has been able to leverage multiple forms of transportation including taxis, vans, and $500 monthly stipends for parents to drive students to and from school. About 1,230 families have accepted the voucher as of Labor Day, district officials said. Chicago Public Schools has also increased bus driver wages $20 per hour.
How about those snappy sky taxis! Perfect for proof of concept! Flying angry children instead of angry businessmen. Have a cage shielding the driver/pilot.

Do any of the parents drive or even have driver licenses? How many of these kids live across the street or a few blocks from the school but still need a ride? Maybe some old Chinese rickshaws would help.
CPS system is a mess. Kids are shipped all over the city for various reasons. Kids who show average to above average cognitive ability are enrolled in magnet or selective schools based upon testing and socioeconomic status. It’s not uncommon to live quite a distance from your school. Which is quite terrible for a sense of community if you don’t know anyone on your block because you attend elementary school 5 miles away.
If this bill passes, say goodbye to local control over all Illinois parks and expect to see open drug and alcohol use, needles, no sanitation and fire hazards, but no ordinary park users.
