Bailey and Pritzker’s fiscal prescriptions for Illinois couldn’t be more different – Greg Hinz – Crain’s*

Though crime and other issues have attracted most of the media attention, Chicago Democrat Pritzker and downstate Republican Bailey are outlining radically different views of the state's finances and what to do next.

with bailey chosen & paid for by jb & the machine, hinz and the lib news media want you to think somehow you have a choice? but the gov race was never in doubt, its just a giant get out the vote/ bailey trumpie-buggieman distraction for you to blindly sign onto amendment 1 and elect dem ill sc judges…..that’s all the machine cares about. and guys like hinz are happy to do there part. 99% of voters are to steepen-fetchit stupid to realize they’ve been swift-boated once again.

So JB running ads saying who Bailey is and what he supports caused voters to get fooled? He ran ads that stated Bailey’s conservatism was too extreme for Illinois. Are you stating that GOP primary voters are so dumb that this type of ad tricked them? What does that say about their candidates running for office?

LOL JB is too extreme for IL.

Bailey is running as a MAGA candidate which has, for the most part, been wildly successful throughout the country. Will it work in IL? Possibly.

We’ll actually see how the pro MAGA candidates will do in close elections throughout the country. The senate may be lost to the republicans because of some of the candidates that Trump supported and became the nominee. Don’t think Bailey has much of a chance in Illinois. But there is a month left till election time and a lot can happen in a month.

“Bailey is running as a MAGA candidate which has, for the most part, been wildly successful throughout the country. Will it work in IL?” Wildly successful in primaries??? How successful has it been in deep blue states during the general election? Have any of these MAGA candidates won in Hawaii, Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, New Jersey, California, or Maryland in a statewide general election? Bailey is a joke candidate in Illinois with almost zero chance of winning the Governor’s office. The only question for Bailey is what time he will concede the election on November 8th. Then again,… Read more »

Hidden inside the recesses of the latest ABC News-Washington Post poll was this nugget: “Among those living in congressional districts that are rated as at least somewhat competitive by ABC’s FiveThirtyEight (neither solid Republican nor solid Democratic), registered voters favor Republican candidates by a wide 55-34 percent – nearly as big as the Republican lead in solid GOP districts (+24 points). Democrats lead by 35 points in solid Democratic districts, pointing to a potential overvote where they’re most prevalent.”

If there was ever a year a republican could win IL again, this would be the year. There’s a red wave incoming, it’s a just a matter of how far inland the wave is coming. Two weeks ago if someone told you that Ft. Meyers would be wiped off the maps with a one in a 500 year hurricane, you’d laugh and say no way. That’s a pretty good analogy of what’s inbound. There’s only so much globohomo the average normie can take and they’re about at their limit. They’re not going to switch to Republican. They’re just not going… Read more »

“If there was ever a year a republican could win IL again, this would be the year.” A republican could win, but not Bailey. Again, I ask, where are these MAGA candidates that have performed so well in state wide elections in deep blue states? You are dreaming, as usual. Every time you post this kind of garbage it lets people know how you are detached from reality. Make sure you come back here on November 9th. A very large serving of crow will be on the menu. You can start practicing your excuses now. Voter fraud, unfair media, dumb… Read more »

If any conservative has any hopes in illinois you got to carry moderates and independents in the burbs, especially women. That’s what Rauner did + he spent $millions. Jb spent $24 million to make sure trumpie bailey got the rep nomination & who knows how many machine dems crossed over and voted for bailey as well. Griffin and his $millions are gone…..bailey has ZERO chance. he not going to win moderates (like me) or women. I think the sc is pretty much a done deal for jb & the machine as well. Maybe an outside chance amendment 1 will fail,… Read more »

Independents nationwide have taken a hard swerve to the right, and so have hispanics. Your personal views are not representative of the greater electorate. How much of this will spill over into Illinois? Who knows.

Come on man, no joke, I didn’t say Bailey was going to win, I said Bailey has got a chance if he can perform here like Republicans nationally. I’m not making excuses, it is what it is. D’s aren’t very motivated but R’s are motivated, both here in IL and nationally. And R’s have showed up consistently for a decade now even with Rauner’s loss he only lost 100k votes between his two races. ANd independents have taken a hard right, and hsipanics too. Globohomo is not popular outside of hardcore democrat circles. If normie D’s stay home, and they… Read more »

Unfortunately IL is a goner. I live in a lower middle class burb, I can’t believe all the f-ing Casten signs. At least 10-1 over Pekau. Granted signs don’t win an election, but the stupid suburban women are killing any chance of of an R winning

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
