A top story around the nation since Friday, even in most mainstream media, has been how Twitter repressed reporting on the scandals exposed by Hunter Biden’s laptop. The contents of the laptop were released and authenticated prior to the 2020 election but stonewalled until afterward by most corporate media.
Even mainstream sources like the New York Times and Washington Post, which completely suppressed the story prior to the 2020 election, later acknowledged the authenticity of the laptop and are now reporting further on it, at least to a limited extent.
Astonishingly, however, the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-times along with WBEZ (which is now jointly owned with the Sun-Times) still maintain what has been a near total blackout. That blackout includes no mention of the sensation sparked by the release on Friday by Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk, of internal emails on how and why Twitter deleted reporting on the laptop.
Essentially, anybody relying on the Tribune, Sun-Times and WBEZ for news would be unaware of the historic scandals exposed by the laptop. Those scandals are indeed multiple, and not about Hunter’s sordid conduct. Specifically, the laptop and related evidence show:
1) corrupt influence peddling by Joe and Hunter Biden for their mutual enrichment;
2) lying by Joe about not knowing anything about Hunter’s businesses;
3) coordinated, pre-election suppression of the news coverage by the media, big tech platforms and the FBI; and
4) participation by the national security establishment, particularly the FBI, in a fraudulent attempt to claim Hunter’s laptop was part of a Russian conspiracy.
Coverage of national issues by the Tribune and Sun-Times is limited almost entirely to syndicated stories from other sources. But their story selection is utterly biased. The Tribune’s, in particular, look like they are selected daily by the Democratic National party to maintain partisan narratives and priorities. About the only stories on the laptop you can find in those papers go back to 2022, when their reporting included the lies by government officials that the laptop was planted by Russians. What stories they do run are usually from the Associated Press and New York Times, which are among Americans’ most biased mainstream sources.
WBEZ relies on NPR for its national stories, which has been the worst of all. In October 2020 NPR openly stated that it refused to write about the contents of the laptop, falsely claiming that the “the laptop story was discredited by US intelligence and independent investigations by news organizations.” NPR later retracted that claim but it has continued to ignore the story, along with WBEZ.
Hopefully, you’ve seen elsewhere the recent news about Twitter’s suppression of the laptop story, which is scandalous enough.
But stay tuned because Twitter and the laptop are just tips of the iceberg.
Pay particular attention to evidence being uncovered in a major lawsuit filed by the Missouri and Louisiana attorneys general along with the New Civil Liberties Alliance, which the Alliance rightly says “blows the lid off a sprawling federal censorship regime that will shock the conscience of Americans.” Just last week, an FBI agent testified in that trial that the FBI held weekly meetings with Big Tech companies in Silicon Valley ahead of the 2020 presidential election to discuss “disinformation” on social media and ask about efforts to censor that information.
The FBI had the laptop 11 months before the election but covered it up. That’s far more serious than Twitter’s suppression.
Just don’t expect to read anything about the government-tech-media censorship cartel in the Tribune, Sun-Times or WBEZ. The best sources on the topic, I suggest, are legal analyst Jonathan Turley and reporter Glenn Greenwald.
Most of the public is still unaware of the full depth and effectiveness of that cartel, but I am reasonably optimistic that the masses will eventually understand.
And they will be livid.

The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.
Interesting article on NYT 24 hour strike. It said unions are powerless because readers can get their information from so many sources besides NYT, internet, cable TV, etc. Hard to believe that residents of IL don’t get information like Hunter’s laptop from any sources other than Trib, Times, and NPR. Looking at the results of the election, though, it seems like they do get information only from Dem leaning outlets. Those of us who have left still read the Trib online with amusement. Lot of laughs.
“Empty Threat NYT Unions” Real Clear Politics, Jack Shaeffer, Politico
The article also says NYT is flush with cash because of its online subscribers. How many subscribers do the Trib and Times still have? Both seem to be struggling. I, and a lot of friends, left about 2 years ago.
All media is onboard with the dem narratives. Including Musk and Twitter. Notice Musk has not reinstated Alex Jones, Assange, Ye, and many others. Free speech at its finest means all the things you disagree with being said. Free speech is truly present when it makes you uncomfortable, not when it makes you comfortable. Musk is no better, he talks a good game, he always has, thats how he got the government to subsidize Tesla into existence. The Tribune is a useless weeny with no real journalists, its just a brand, nothing more.
Rick, respectfully disagree. Musk has no choice but to draw the line somewhere against some of the people you mention, who are outright bigots. Same for porn and some of the other things excluded from First Amendment protection. He may not have the line properly drawn yet but he is getting there.
I respectfully disagree, the last I remember free speech included bigotry and “hate speech” the latter being a fake thing entirely determined by the listeners opinion. Look at all the hate speech that is allowed against Trump, should outright hatred for pro-life people be banned speech too? I have defined those as deeply hateful but wouldn’t deny someone the right to hate Trump openly or pro-lifers. It’s not up to anybody else to decide what is banned speech except the listener. The listeners can just decide by blocking or engaging speech they disagree with. The thin skinned will be doing… Read more »

Hunter is an embarrassment to President Biden.
He has had some bad luck when it comes to children.
The only good news for Biden is that they do not live in Illinois.
What I would like to see is the Mayor Daily’s laptop, too bad they did not have them then.
You’d like to scrooten his laptop, eh?
Look for Twitter files 1.5 since James Baker was discovered to be vetting the contents of the emails. I want to see what he supressed.
The elephant in the room is the reason the laptop was in the repair shop to begin with.
Some good news on this front. New poll shows most Americans agree with Musk’s effort to open up Twitter (except for young people and Dems): https://www.thetrafalgargroup.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/COSA-Twitter-Full-Report-1204.pdf
50% of the country is uninformed and, in the fog, i hope that Elon can release the kitchen sink and flood the news…he’s our only chance!!
Uninformed is too kind of a word. More like laziness and stupidity and I’d put the percentage higher than 50%
Spot on. The rest of the country understands very little about American history and sees nearly everything through a lens of guilt and blame. Media caters to the same stupid audience. Truth and justice are not part of their vocabulary.
I think the controversy surrounding Hunter’s Biden’s laptop — especially the wildly different reaction to the revelations by elites and the general public — is like the Dreyfus Affair scandal that rocked France 120 years ago.

This is not surprising. Since the Tribune turned marxist in 2008 and the lefties at the Sun-Times and WBEZ are peddling Democratic talking points non-stop.
Leading up to the 2012 election, the Tribune endorsed Barack Obama over Mitt Romney. They described Romney as an enigma. Huh? If anyone was an enigma and that was their benchmark, then they shouldn’t have endorsed Obama. How much was, and still is, hidden from us about our local community activist-turned-president? At that moment, I canceled my Tribune subscription and have tossed in the trash every mailing they sent in an effort to win me back. Ten years later, my decision is so justified. Objective journalism is dead and I’m not confident it will come back. And, therefore, they should… Read more »
Thank Sam Zell for transforming a once-great newspaper into a Communist rag. Not our fault he was infatuated with “Bathhouse Barry” Obama.
Just a guess but with so much emphasis on the laptop could there be more in there than meets the eye? Maybe something we are not told is a list of clients for Jeffrey Epstein’s island escapades. We all know about Hunters drug and social life problems. Illicit financial dealings aside what if there are names? The real story about the suppression of news coverage of financial dealings may be just a cover for something way more sinister and that can’t get out. Just a thought.
When you make a perverted druggie the family bagman, bad things will happen. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
The fake news fraud media has lost the trust of most Americans. US ranks last among 46 countries in trust in media, Reuters Institute report finds. Just 29% of people surveyed in the U.S. said they trust the news,

The most disturbing thing about the Biden ‘Laptop from Hell’ isn’t the evidence of Joe Biden’s blatant corruption (estimates are ‘The Big Guy’ has received +$29M from the Chinese Communists alone) or national security compromise (which is worse than anything in American politics) but the human trafficking and sexual abuse of minor family members that Hunter Biden was involved in.
The deposition of James Baker on the FBI’s putting a bag over the Laptop from Hell and refusing to investigate Hunter Biden will be sickening I’m sure.
Here’s JB in attendance w Hunter at WH dinner with hollywood and public sec union elites from 6 days ago…nothing in local news?

Ill non public union taxpayers have little in Illinois. Rampant taxes, massive public corruption, political malfeasance, huge exposure to unfunded public pensions, massive crime, kids can’t read or do math at grade level (despite per student spend in the op ranges), etc. Only people helping us is sometimes is the FBI and justice dept, and sometimes the old Chicago trib, would spend some real money on investigating political corruption. That all changed when Alden bought the trib, and turned it into a comic book, like the Denver post. So it’s not just the laptop story…the trib is a joke now,… Read more »
Personally, I think the bright spots in IL media include the investigative reporters. Their numbers may be smaller but they don’t hesitate to target Dems. Then again, that’s where the targets are. Two other bright spots, IMO. One is Chicago City Hall reporters are pretty tough and thorough, including the Sun-Times. The other is talk radio, where robust differences of opinion are welcome.
John Kass wrote an excellent piece on Sunday about the Hunter Biden laptop story. Sorry I don’t do links but it is available at johnkassnews.com. He makes the obvious point that I haven’t seen elsewhere. For those of us old enough to remember Watergate: what did Obama know, and when did he know it?
Watergate is child’s play to what’s been going in DC the last 20 years from Bush II to Biden and everything in between. Bailouts, wars, more bailouts, Chi-com owned congress, fake pandemics, fake vaccines, rigged media and elections, weaponized FBI, IRS and every other agency. I wish Watergate was the worst of the corruption we are facing today.
That’s really true. Watergate was a break-in to spy on the other party plus the coverup. That’s bad, but nothing compared to widespread collusion among the government, media and tech platforms to change election results. Not to mention Joe Biden being a crooked influence peddler and liar.
So who votes down a statement like this? You don’t deserve America. Whoever you are please contact wirepoints to link us up. I will personally pay for your airfare to live in a paradise like Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea or Iran.
I’d rather send the bill to the many West, North, and South Side Communists who are foolishly sitting on welfare and unemployment, instead of working for a living, like the rest of us.
Spot on Mark and how these rags manage to stay in business baffles me.
Deep state propaganda money.
The WH calls this story “old news”…
Yet any stories involving (R)’s, no matter how old or that have been thoroughly debunked (DT’s Charlottesville statements, ingest bleach etc.), are still considered relevant by (D)’s…
(D) stands for “double standard”…
And gaslighting is their main tool…
Yep, exactly correct.
