Pritzker Demands Accountability for Southwest Airlines Amid Ongoing Holiday Travel ‘Debacle’ – NBC5 (Chicago)

“I am closely following the ongoing challenges consumers are dealing with regarding their canceled Southwest flights,” Gov. JB Pritzker said. “I have spoken with Secretary Buttigieg to express the frustration of thousands of Illinoisans who have been stranded and missed out on quality time with their families or who have had to call off work because they couldn’t make it back home.”

How can Southwest’s planes fly without toilets?

By The Editorial Board – Updated Dec. 28, 2022 “The scheduling meltdown at Southwest Airlines is one for the business record books, and the carrier will pay a price for months or years in damaged reputation. The only worse result for seething passengers would be to put Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in charge. Don’t laugh. Mr. Buttigieg’s department said Monday it will investigate Southwest’s “unacceptable rate of cancellations and delays.” It will also “take action” to hold the carrier “accountable,” as if the… Read more »

That fat slob has a private plane. It’s no skin off his nose if Southwest is canceling flights. Irony is Southwest’s ticker symbol is LUV.

Without the presence of Notre Dame University, South Bend would be just another Ford Heights,

JB the Hutt has been wholly unaccountable for his egregious mismanagement of Illinois, so it’s just rich for His Corpulence to demand from others that which no one dare demand of him.

With all these transportation meltdowns: the ports, the trucks, and now the planes, this begs the question:

Where is Transportation Secretary Buttgag?

Answer: This is exactly how Buttgag mismanaged South Bend. Utter incompetence. Zero diligence.

“Pritzker Demands Accountability …” what a joke! What hubris.

Funny how JB is “Johnny on the spot” regarding the Southwest “crisis”, while nowhere to be found regarding our real crises – out of control crime and out of control public employee / pension costs. SW problem will be resolved in days, while our grandkids will be shackled with the repercussions of these other issues.

Hold SWA accountable for what exactly…?

Making bad business decisions like firing unvaxed employees…?

They brought this upon themselves, let them reap what they have sown…

I believe firing the unvaccinated may be the biggest problem – insufficient personnel.

All people fired for not being vaccinated should be rehired and compensated for lost wages.

The whole vaccination and face mask debacle rests squarely on liberal politics and companies afraid to buck the administration that last year promised a winter of dire illness and death for the unvaccinated.

What president, from the bully pulpit, makes a statement like that? It verged on the deranged.

The whole country knew about this cyclone bomb and where it would hit for at least a week before Christmas. Why people thought their holiday flying plans would be unaffected is beyond me. Expect to fly to Florida day before Christmas? With thousands of others packing airport? Expect Pritzker and Buttieg to bail you out?

JB May keep his pandemic emergency powers, but he can’t control the weather. Delayed flights are still better than what happened to the people stranded and dying in their cars in Buffalo.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
