‘Traumatized’ tamale vendors told to go cashless by Lori Lightfoot, some paying gangs for protection – FOX News

Evita Duffy of The Federalist noted the irony in the mayor's advice, given the victims that are shouldering the burden of the crime surge are the communities that she, and far-left District Attorney Kim Foxx, claim to protect - minorities. "They are all day preaching to us about equity and making policies around equity, and yet the people that are being hurt the most, by the way, that the city is run, are poor minorities."

The gangs give them a better deal than the Chitty of Chicago does. At least the gangs will do what they are paid to do. Much lower cost as you do not have to pay for Luxury homes in Punta Gorda, Fl.

Actually, as the progressive agenda evolves I expect “protection” organizations to make a comeback. They’ll be private of course and have a way of rendering their services without COPA oversight.

Think of our version of Hizbollah right here in Chicagoland….

This reminds me of the Sopranos episode where Pasty & Burt tried to extort a chain coffee shop for ‘protection’. The barista refused to pay it. He said, “”Every last f****n coffee bean is in the computer. They find anything missing, I’ll be gone and somebody else will be here”. They walked away saying, ““Its all over for the little guy.” This is what is going to happen in Chicago in the ethnic neighborhoods, where the tamale vendors and restaurant owners will pay protection money to the local low level cartel member for ‘protection’ against, really, thugs and youths coming… Read more »

Well I don’t quite see it that way. I expect Mexican and Chinese will become more efficient a dispencing justice than our current woke system. Hood rats will soon get the message and move onto easier pickings on the North side.

Quite frankly, illegal immigrants selling unlicensed tamales, while cheating on their taxes, is part of Chicago’s ‘experience the third world only twenty miles from your home’. So I don’t really care what happens to the tamale vendors. However, I don’t think the answer should be street thugs mugging them, no one deserves that, but the city’s health department should be doing something about this. Also, Lori is so out of touch, these illegals are ‘unbanked’ and cannot go cashless because without social security numbers, they cannot get bank accounts.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
