Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. “government regulations and societal pressure” have led to the push for electrification. Wonder if this union supported Biden and Pritzker. Everyone thought the rot would move out from the core known as Chicago, now you see the rot starting around the edges.
Now is there chance to make a move out of state and not look back. This is a blessing in disguise. Future generations will thank them big time.
Again, mixed emotions on this: My Plymouth Neon, the biggest lemon I’ve ever owned, was half-assedly built by the “dedicated” workers at the Belvedire plant. That said, it stinks to lose a job now and I wish those who are laid off good luck, but Jeep Cherokee sales have been falling for a while now (check US Sales by Year here: https://www.goodcarbadcar.net/jeep-cherokee-sales-figures/) and it’s not worth it to keep a factory going to build a vehicle whose sales have fallen to less than a quarter of it’s 2018 sales numbers. Again, as I stated in my last comment related to this issue. Did ABC news come out to the community? It seems to me they copy and paste the tribune article. Most of it dealt with the angry union president. If I were these workers it’s a gift to leave a oppressive state and move to a worker friendly state.
