Chicago’s corporate elite have never been willing to take on the system, all they’ve ever done is appease. – Wirepoints on AM 560 Chicago’s Morning Answer

Ted joined Dan and Amy to talk about Mayor-Elect Brandon Johnson’s plan to multiply the taxes on city businesses, the failure of the city’s elite to challenge Chicago’s failed policies, the city’s recent loss in population, the continued crime spike, why Chicago’s pension crisis will soon reemerge, and more.

There is an old, old saying “Never Fight Chitty Hall”, for good reason, nothing good will ever come of it.

Typically, the corporate and political elites of a given area are all part of the same good old boy and good old girl club. You might have an occasionally corporate elite, like Mike Lindell or Donald Trump, who is willing and able to buck the system, but those people are sadly rare. I blame the corporate elite of Chicago as much as the Chicago politicians for the problems of Chicago. Unlike us regular people, the corporate elite actually have access to politicians and the politicians actually listen to them. The corporate elite have the ability to control politics through their… Read more »

Wasn’t that long ago a IL ‘Republican’ influencer bragged about their kid attending the Marxist NYU. In Chicago, it seems they are all cut from the same filthy cloth.

I suppose you think Wirepoints admin isn’t smart enough to think your “south FL” reference isn’t going to trigger any thought on their part that you are essentially not complying with their request a few hours ago—instead giving your newly prohibited Punta Gordo auto-pilot go-to response yet again in a different manner. Very clever. Let’s see if it triggers yet another response on their part. Who is the smarter party? America wants to know!

Definition of current “corporate leadership” in Chicago was once former frat bro “B” student-jock, from either premier midwest state university, or silver-spoon son of old money family from ivy school, who could discuss golf and other sports with his peers.

Now it’s more often a “C+” graduate from a 3rd-tier state college, say Governors State or Southern Illinois, fast-tracked by corporate employer into “community leadership/DEI” role specifically designated for “POC”. Look at roster of Chicago’s so-called community leaders, tell me if I’m wrong.

Neither “corporate leader” profile lends itself to meaningful input nor guidance. These roles are powder-puff resume bookmarks.

IMO the silence is because the industry titans are not true leaders. They have learned to play the corporate game. (ComEd-Madigan) They grew their title to the point of rules for the and not for me. Today’s true leaders built their own and are not afraid to speak up in a controlled rational manner. (Musk, Griffen) Going woke costs companies billions in expenses but I have not seen one piece to support the ROE on the woke conversion. The founder, on the other hand, fights tooth and nail for each marginal dollar and will not allow his company to waste… Read more »

Ask Perillo Automotive what happens when you speak up. Could have been a lot worse, luckily for him Lightfoot is an amateur.

How many decades did Madigan and Democrats take retribution on anyone who dare push back? Just leaving is better.

It’s easier for sure, but woke and stupid is becoming pervasive. Look at the recent morons in TN house. Its solid red with a new streak of rainbow. We need a real leader. I am not advocating for Trump as he is/was too divisive. We need someone with the skill to not offend the snowflake mob in public but enact reforms to put us back on the right track.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
