Bill mandating EV charger capabilities for new construction headed to governor – Center Square

State Rep. Daniel Swanson said he is not sure the state’s electrical infrastructure is ready for all these proposed charging stations. “The cost is going to be much deeper and much more involved with the infrastructure of the electricity coming into that residential area."

Soon there will be no new construction in Illinois. Only fools will build in a state that is in a downward spiral.

” [I]t can be up to six times more expensive to retrofit a parking space for electric vehicle charging than it is to install the necessary infrastructure at the time of construction.”That sort of makes sense, and implies that builders would voluntarily install the conduits, as a selling point. But then JB, Robyn and the others couldn’t take credit for it, and building inspectors would lose a potential source of gratuities.
