Mayor Brandon Johnson assures asylum-seekers Chicago will embrace them – Chicago Sun-Times

merlin_113401668.jpgAddressing the neighbors' opposition to housing migrants at South Shore High School, the mayor said, “It’s no secret that the Black community in this city has suffered under austerity budgets that have caused true economic disparity, and we are in a position now to bring communities together, and we have to do both. We have to make sure that we take care of residents and family members who are here while also making sure that families that wish to call the city of Chicago their home, that they are serviced as well.”

Kumbaya, my lord, kumbaya… Photo-op virtue-signaling as first actions of new mayor regarding undocumented migrant crisis in Chicago? Bet that accomplished zero. What new mayor needs to emulate NYC mayor Eric Adams, and assertively lobby Biden Administration for MORE CASH, while also chartering those buses to truck the new migrants to DC, to White House gates, where they should seek “comfort and shelter” from source of crisis. Nope, our new Chicago mayor instead prioritizes establishment of yet another new highly-paid “deputy mayor” executive position, whose sole purpose is to enhance wages, job security for slackers, and yet more workplace benefits… Read more »

Now that Brandon’s boots-on-the-ground, so to speak, we’ll see how quickly his progressive puffery turns into actionable plans for new taxes actually collected, illegal aliens housed-n-fed-n-clothed and medicated, CPS students performing at grade level, mental health clinics opened-n-staffed, social workers hired, downtown Chicago rejuvenated, and pestilential criminality ‘holistically’ mitigated. There could be an ‘Obamaesque’ strategy in play with the marxists – Stop contributing to pensions knowing you will push for BK. That would ‘free-up’ monies for Johnson’s executive orders.

Here are some of the Sun Times news headlines below the pic of Johnson greeting illegals and promising they will be looked after and taken care of:

Man shoots brother before killing himself outside Fox Lake restaurant they once owned together
Boys, 12 and 16, wounded in shooting outside library in West Garfield Park
Man fatally shot in Englewood
Woman shot and killed in East Garfield Park
Boy, 15, fatally shot in Albany Park

Mayor has a huge disconnect with reality it seems.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
