Full-day kindergarten will be required in Illinois public schools by 2027 under bill headed to governor’s desk – Chalkbeat Chicago

While a majority of districts in Illinois report having full-day kindergarten, about 150 do not offer a full-day program. Even though the bill had bipartisan support in the general assembly, school district leaders voiced concern that creating full-day kindergarten would be expensive for school districts as they try to find space for more children and hire more staff.

Another unfunded mandate forced upon the downstaters that will cost a bundle.

Prepare for another round of education property tax hikes for what amounts to little more than a jobs program for teachers and of course free baby sitters for the assorted members of the free stuff army. Heaven forbid they have to watch what they have brought into this world

Hmm, Old Joe went to half day kindergarten in Detroit in 1963. I don’t think it affected my life outcome. Why do I smell another government union grift?
