A quick look at a granulated map of the Chicago 2020 census shows hispanic populations growing rapidly and encroaching into black neighborhoods on the west, southwest and southeast sides. That purple and light blue will decay with time, most likely exponentially. Not sure what backfills it.
The smaller and more islandish looking purple and light blue areas will turn yellow and brown, like Ravenswood, Old Irving Park, etc, as they turn 100% hispanic. The SW/NW city worker/cop neighborhoods will definitely turn brown or green, as the city’s stubborn few remaining residents of irish heritage abandon their 100 year old ancestral claims to Beverly, Mt Greenwood, Oriole Park, Norwood Park, etc. Other ethic groups left long ago – the Italians are long gone (my peoples), no one ever talks about the bohemians or the czechs or the Germans anymore.
