Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Just because crime isn’t being reported or, as in the case of the carjacking a few days ago the victim declines to file a complaint so there is no crime, doesn’t mean that crime is down as Brandon, Pritzger and Joe want you to believe. Since 2020, many municipalities underreported and just plain ceased to report crimes to the FBI, a study recently revealed. That does wonders for the powers that be, and allows them to focus on crimes of “ white supremacy “ , the only punishable offense that they seem to be concerned about.
Would be nice to provide a link to that study. Not saying it does not exist, just want facts supported.
