Chicago Would Like Everyone to Stop Talking About 1968 – New York Times/Yahoo

The police detain a demonstrator in front of the Conrad Hilton during the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Aug. 29, 1968. (Barton Silverman/The New York Times)"We’ve been through these type of challenges before," Mayor Brandon Johnson said. "But the difference is who’s in charge right now," he said, adding that he had been part of "countless peaceful demonstrations" throughout his life.

Professional agitators, professional terrorists versus a police department whose executives ranks are filled with never qualified, political appointees who have hidden from doing or being involved in policing their entire career. An investigative unit, COPA, whose director is an avid police hater and will snag every suspected violation by an officer and recommend termination. A mayor who is having panic attacks on a weekly basis. The police department down over 2000 officers from budgeted strength. I’m sure all will be rainbows and unicorns so the democrats can name Stumbling Joe as their best choice for a president who can be… Read more »

Brando may be in charge, but he’s not in control. His oars are spinning furiously, but they aren’t in the water.

I hope we see a healthy display of peaceful free speech. In 68 many, many young people had skin in the game as far as getting sent to die in a useless war. Today they see mass murder in Gaza but have no skin in the game themselves. The protests will be nowhere near as intense as 68 for thus reason.

Wow. I hope that you are right but I suspect that you aren’t seeing the same hyper violent radicalized leftist Brownshirt army that I’m seeing. In 1968 the leftists draft dodging cowards were all focused on one thing. Today the Democrat Brownshirt grievances are enumerable and legion. BLM, ANTIFA, Code Pink, Hamas Terrorists, CTU members, General leftist complainers, hateful anti-Semites, Pro-abortion, anti-Trump, socialists, communists, anarchists, free shoes, BJ’s fun-loving yutes, etc; Its a long list. There is no limit to their bottomless well of perceived wrongs and their overall goal isn’t to end a just war but to end America.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
