Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. “Transformation”. “Equity.” “Public accommodation.” Wow, the Mayor really has the snow machine going even into the middle of May. Any idea of how to pay for all of his nonsense? Nah. Just give me the dough and I will make the world better. This guy doesn’t have a clue how to get things done in Springfield. It makes sense when you realize the population no longer has a sense of city duty, and they no longer feel a love for America or it’s people. It’s degraded into a third-world battle over limited resources looted and divvied up between various tribal groups. And no, it hasn’t always been like this. Sure there’s been corruption and graft since the beginning of time, but I feel like every mayor up until now really felt a sense of duty.
