‘Anti-democracy’ law blocked: GOP candidates win court order stopping Dems from using new law to keep them off ballot – Cook County Record

In the lawsuit, the Republican candidates pointed to prior court decisions they say indicate SB2412 amounts to unconstitutional changes to election rules. Those decisions from state appellate courts as far back as 1977 indicate courts believe that the right to vote is "implicated" by laws that restrict candidate's ability to run for office, and "legislation that affects any stage of the election process implicates the right to vote."

The irony is that Republicans have precisely a zero chance of winning any of these races because of gerrymandering. That’s why no primary candidate won.

But the US Supreme Ct today just gave the South Carolina legislature a big win. Their congressional delegation is 6R-1D and the Supreme Court upheld that, which means IL’s gerrymandering is perfectly legal…

It’s almost like you won’t be able to fix any gerrymandering until all the states fix it. Republicans at the national level have no intention of giving up this advantage. As you’ve said Debbie, it’s ok to cheat if it’s to your teams advantage.

Voters are being severely disenfranchised in IL by the Democrat majority – ‘Gut and Replace’, obscene gerrymandering, and SB2412 are just some of the most outrageous examples. Lot of work yet to be done to end the ‘vote stealing’ shenanigans by Democrats.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
