Pastor Jonathan Johnson was in disbelief when he was told his church would need to register for a business license. "It was almost $700. I said, where did this come from? We are federally and state exempt from taxes," said Johnson, "and I really do feel like it's more of a dictatorship here in the city of Harvey at this point." One alderman wants the State of Illinois to get involved.
Our attorney, who has a lot of expertise on religious corporations, says that no church in the U.S. needs a license to operate. A church does not even have to register with a State or the federal government. However, a church that is not registered probably cannot offer tax exempt receipts for donations. If it does give such receipts, the IRS might challenge them

Doltan , Harvey, and a whole bunch more.
Get out the hot buttered popcorn, the big

These towns are “failed places” à la Khartoum, Havana, Johannesburg, Caracas… in common they are all run by corrupt thieving “administrators”…

I don’t see anything wrong with paying for a business license. $700 is outrageous, for sure, but that’s cost of voting Democrat for decades, and allowing their neighborhood to turn to blight.
If this bill passes, say goodbye to local control over all Illinois parks and expect to see open drug and alcohol use, needles, no sanitation and fire hazards, but no ordinary park users.

This has been a long time coming. We’re just seeing the effects of it now because it’s actually being reported on.

Most likely this is where much of the money goes to. Here’s some info about the school district. Scroll thru the various sections like students/proficiency/etc.
