Pritzker’s whopper during the presidential debate should tell us something about him and so many others – Wirepoints

By: Mark Glennon*

There’s something telling about what Gov. JB Pritzker wrote during Thursday’s presidential debate that’s utterly disheartening, and it’s about more than Pritzker.

Instead of criticizing Donald Trump with honesty and facts — material for which is abundant — Pritzker chose to repeat a lie. More importantly, it’s a lie widely known and easily shown to be a lie, as Pritzker surely knows.

Pritzker wrote on X, “When neo Nazis marched on Charlottesville chanting ‘Jews will not replace us’, Donald Trump called them very fine people. And now he says it’s all a lie. It’s not a lie, Donald Trump is just a liar.”

That claim has been thoroughly debunked over and over again by sources on both the left and right. When Trump said “very fine people on both sides” he specifically noted that he was not talking about neo-Nazis and white supremacists and said they should be “condemned totally.”

Here’s the video. It can’t be more clear that he wasn’t talking about neo-Nazis.

Left-leaning Snopes is among the latest to debunk Pritzker’s claim. Its conclusion: “In sum, while Trump did say that there were ‘very fine people on both sides,’ he also specifically noted that he was not talking about neo-Nazis and white supremacists and said they should be condemned totally. Therefore, we have rated this claim ‘False.'”  Snopes included both the video and a transcript. See it yourself.

Here’s CNN’s Jake Tapper on video saying Trump condemned Neo-Nazis and white supremecists, and that Trump was not including them in his “very fine people” remark.

Pritzker’s comment on X has over 420 replies, almost all of which say that Pritzker was lying.

The question therefore becomes: Why would Pritzker use a claim that’s so widely known to be a lie?

Much of the answer, I submit, is in what pollster Scott Rasmussen calls “the most terrifying poll result I have ever seen,” and it goes beyond Pritzker. In that poll, his agency asked, “Would you rather have your candidate win by cheating or lose by playing fair?”

Just 7% of Americans said they would want their candidate to win by cheating.

But here’s the kicker: That number jumps to 35% among the elite 1% and skyrocketed to 69% among those who are part of the politically obsessed 1%, meaning they talk about politics every day. The full poll is here and Rasmussen’s comments on it are in this Daily Signal interview.

If cheating to win is acceptable, lying surely is as well, and the vast majority of people of influence have no problem with it. Just lie like hell. Follow the old rule that lies told often enough come to be accepted as truth by many. That’s what we’ve come to. We can be thankful only that most Americans have better values than our elites.

It should therefore come as no surprise that the debate, too, had plenty of  falsehoods from both Trump and Biden, as you can see in many fact checks available online, like here.

This thread of comments was impressive. It illustrates the fundamental understanding conservatives have of economics and political dynamics. Thank you, Wirepoints for keeping us informed.

However, if we don’t get out there as individuals and educate our neighbors and friends, nothing is going to change. Save the state, save the country. If the entire US turns into Illinois, California and NY, and the leaders of these states are working towards that end, the republic will end.

Your analysis of Jimmy Carter could not be more wrong. Obviously, you have no idea what went on in the 70’s. The economy that Carter inherited was mainly caused by the 1973 arab oil embargo and the policies of the Nixon and Ford administrations. Nixon tried to tame inflation with wage and price controls and Ford with his Whip Inflation Now (WIN) campaign. Neither worked.   Carter’s idea to help bring down inflation was deregulation. You are correct that he deregulated the airlines, but he also deregulated commercial trucking, railroad freight rates, long distance phone service, and oil prices. This allowed… Read more »

I agree with most of your entire scenario President Carter did the right thing on inflation, it was the hostage situation than did him in. Congratulations, you clearly struck a nerve with the goons, hence the -2 thumbs down. They hate it when their playbook is exposed by knowledgeable conservatives. Unfortunately, things will only change when they get so bad that there is no other choice. Propaganda and it’s means of turning a lie into an accepted truth by continually repeating the lie is very much part of todays Democrat Party. Obama, Pritzker, Biden, Schiff, Pelosi etc all have engaged in high levels of propaganda using repeated lies. In fact Democrats have made lying an artform you can say as they’ve managed to get lies made into law. And why? Authoritarianism requires control of the people.

It’s a fundamental rule of the left “If a lie is only printed often enough, it becomes a quasi-truth, and if such a truth is repeated oftenenough, it becomes an article of belief, a dogma, and men will die for it.” It worked for Joseph Goebbels chief propagandist for the Nazi Party and Pritzker believes it will work for him.

Pritzker wants to be Bidens replacement. Democrats can’t argue points that matter, so they latch onto Hitler, racism, climate, gender, hookers, etc. so his statement is par for the course. It will be fun to watch how they replace Biden. We always hear electing Trump will be the death of democracy. Republicans have historically been for the corporates and the oligarchs, they also were smart to court Christians and firearm enthusiasts. They’ve been absolute bastards for years, but they are actually the lesser of two evils.

The Dems have taken the corporate cash too, they’ve also become the party of censorship, bureaucratic autocracy, and just plain fraud. Republicans take money, Dems take it with both hands. They’ve also become just as big war mongers as Bush, Cheney, McCain.

Biden also blamed Trump for the ongoing rampant inflation, while Biden’s Treasury Secretary said the inflation was transitory. If it weren’t for Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema finally siding with Republicans, the progressives would have had Dementia Joe flood the economy with trillions more. You’re completely wrong. The inflation is caused by government spending, not a lack of government revenue. Even if the tax cuts of 2017 were eliminated, the government would still be spending trillions above what it takes in. You would be best to learn something before posting comments.

A cut in federal tax revenue doesn’t necessarily bring a reduction in its expenses, so borrowing has to make up the difference. The Trump administration did lots of borrowing and consequent debt accumulation beyond the norm.

As to Stormy, it seems that Trump is playing the same “no evidence” gambit that the Democrats have used in denying election fraud. Whether Trump did or didn’t is essentially his word against hers with no other testimony as to what “every Republican knows.” The legal system and its premise that juries can decide “facts” opens up a lot of possibilities. Andrew, do you realize that you are parroting the party line without verification?

Open your eyes and read or listen to something other than mainstream media.

There’s a lot of information out there.

The ‘fourth estate’ use to be unofficial gatekeepers of truth and hold politico’s to accountant. Journalists use to be about ‘keeping the big boys honest’. Not anymore – those days are long, long gone. Pritzker, Biden, Pelosi and all the rest get not just a free pass, but the main stream media acts in their interest and even takes direction from the DNC on talking points – they are now operatives. Look no further than CNN and how it desperately tried to rig a simple debate – fortunately Biden is so bad that even a rigged debate didn’t work. Look… Read more »

The fourth estate never held them to account. That’s the lie the journalists want you to believe. Woodword and Berstein were literally FBI assets. Deep Throat – an FBI agent named Mark Felt – was their handler. They willingly participated in a coup against an extremely popular sitting president who two years earlier won 49 states, losing only DC and MA. If I remember correctly, the ‘DNC’ office his people broke into was actually a honey pot set up by the FBI, which I believe was actually being used to spy on Nixon. The supposed deep state was actually out… Read more »

That all started to go away during the Vietnam War, when the New York Times turned against U.S. troops and started advocating for North Vietnam. The current publisher of the NYT, A.G. Sulzberger, is the son of Arthur Ochs Sulzberger Jr., a vociferous anti-war/anti-U.S. protester during the war and when he took over as publisher in 1992, he turned the Times into a far left-wing rag. Today, what used to be the world’s greatest newspaper, is a low-end, radical left propaganda sheet.

Its been happening for centuries. Remember the Maine? of course not, we weren’t born yet. Even back then, yellow journalists were pushing fake news during the Spanish American war too. But remember, journalists want you to believe this never happened before or after this … just one bad era in American journalism….

More people relied on newspapers back then than they do now. You should use an example from this century not last century. Does the “fourth estate” or the “main stream media” even matter anymore? People consume the news they want from the sources that curry to the beliefs of the consumer.

The legacy media matters less and less every day. I saw that Charlie Kirk had 12 million people live streaming his after debate analysis. That’s 4% of the country. 12 million viewers is more than most major news media networks have these days. Say what you want about right wing media, sure it’s biased, and yes, major advertiser are scared of placing ads because of left-wing political activists organizing boycotts. But they don’t lie to me. Yes, they tell me what I want to hear, but they aren’t straight up lying to me, peddling fake news to push some narrative… Read more »

Ex Illini

Truth has no place in the realm of JB Pritzker. He ignores it regularly, as he spouts off with unsubstantiated claims about Illinois being “the best”. He is a truth denier, refusing to acknowledge fact after fact with regard to the state he governs. Population loss? That’s just not true! Fiscal issues? Not Illinois! How can people be expected to believe anything he says?

Pritzker is a liar, and a booster of perversion and abortion. Three things that God hates!

Not to mention that the Pritzker family has been linked up with the Mob for as long as anyone can remember.

Not to mention a commie hypocrite keep Illinois locked down while he and his family flee to Florida, impose the most unconstitutional gun laws that he paid for via the Illinois Supreme Court justices, while his family operates a gun range in Wisconsin.. I could keep going but as long as you vote blue nothing will change
