The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.
One of the top reasons for the decline of public education is inexperienced, ineffective, and incompetent school boards. If we are going to improve public education we must drastically overhaul how they are run by boards of education. This is a topic that is never really discussed outside of large metro districts such as CPS. Today’s school operations are far removed from the operation of schools in the early 1900s.
