Mayor Brandon Johnson faced ethics concerns over ties to Chicago Public Schools and teachers union, according to memo – Chicago Tribune/Yahoo

“My primary concern is that the Mayor and Deputy Mayor would be able to guarantee future employment with CPS if they chose to return to the district, as our current practice is to place employees returning from a CTU leave into the reassigned teacher pool,” CPS Chief Talent Officer Ben Felton wrote. “While I imagine it is unlikely that Mayor Johnson would return to the classroom, this is not an immaterial benefit.” Deputy Mayor Jen Johnson said the mayor “did not want to leave his position so as to signal his support for education and teachers,” according to the memo.

The only reason IMO Johnson is mayor is to give CTU anything they want and will be working for them as soon as his term is over. He knows next to nothing about running a city the size of Chicago. Look at all the turmoil from the school board to the city council and everything in between. He is a term term mayor by design.

Follow the money! Johnson wants to protect and maximize the pension he will get from still being considered a teacher. If he resigns from the CTU I bet he loses a lot of $$$$.
