A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.

Maybe taxpayer-funded subsidies should include armed guards walking workers from the Metra to their downtown Chicago offices and back. Also, have armed guards wherever workers eat lunch outside in warmer weather.

If crime weren’t so bad the “most generous subsidies” wouldn’t be needed and the subsidy could be used to fund a real municipal need.
I sure hope so. They have to solve the crime problem first. If you do not feel safe all the money in the world is not enough.

They should all watch The Omega Man with Charlton Heston. Heston’s character had to make it back to his urban fortress every day before sunset, because after dark all the murderous zombies came out. This movie is a horror classic. And the city in the movie could be modern day Chicago.
