What the hell do you know about working families? Typical democrat…telling you what to be afraid of and who to blame for it. He’s playing a game with people because he has nothing else to do.

Hey JB– you better stop crying wolf. Columbia caved. Mexico caved. Trudeau will fold by Wednesday. You and Chuck Schumer are going to look like fools trying to scare people all the time before you have any evidence of what the result of the tariffs will be.
Chucky complaining about guac and beer for the superbowl, while holding an avocado, lime and can of Corona. Someone should have told Chucky that Modelo is now the favored Mexican beer.

Very comical that J Blowhard pretends to know anything about working families. I can think of one thing from Canada, Mexico or China I can’t do without. Perhaps more products will now be made in our country for those that want avocados, watery beer and cheap Chinese junk.

JB the Hutt simply ignores all the working class people who have watched their jobs sail overseas. DNC typists Sara Machi and Todd Feurer simply regurgitate the Hutt’s talking points uncritically, despite the obvious scaremongering that seems to be the DNC’s sole remaining card to play.
See-BS is an unreliable news organization (except as a propaganda arm of the DNC) on most days and Sara and Todd provide more evidence for the prosecution with this embarrassing missive.

Is this some sort of joke? Pritzker’s comments regarding “ jack[ing] up the price of groceries and goods, make gas more expensive, and raise[ing] utility bills” for Illinois families fit him rather well and his comments directed at others for what he has done are pure buffoonery. CBS must believe Pritzker though because they publicized it all without one word to the contrary.

Working families paid a huge price for the scam Biden Administration that you trumpeted daily JB, so just sit down and shut up. Tariffs can be offset by lowering corporate tax rates and eliminating senseless regulatory restrictions. Biden didn’t have time to focus on the economy or border because he was either totally out of it or focused on EVs and putting boys in the girl’s bathrooms. Trump was elected because of you JB! Take a bow big boy!
The damage of tariffs won’t be offset by lowering the corporate tax rate and getting rid of senseless regulations, although those are great ideas and hope they get enacted. The damage of tariffs is to the supply chain of the automotive industry. Some in the industry expect auto manufacturing to start being affected in as little as a week. This means production could be shut down and workers laid off. Trump’s USMCA agreement from his first term is the blue print for North Americas automotive supply chain. He said: “it’s the fairest, most balanced, and beneficial trade agreement we have… Read more »
WELL THEN IT’S IMPERATIVE THAT CANADA AND MEXICO QUICKLY STEM THE FLOW OF DRUGS AND ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS OVER THE BORDER! (all caps necessary to show how fear mongering at the prospect of a small but reasonable tariff is overblown)
We’ll see how, what you call “a small but reasonable tariff”, is received by the rest of our trading partners and the U.S. citizens who will suffer the consequences of the tariffs. And, most of the fentanyl smuggled into the U.S. is by american citizens and not legal or illegal aliens.
I thought perhaps your caps lock was on and you just didn’t notice. Thanks for the explanation.

It seems as if Pritzker, governor of an ailing manufacturing state, does not believe there is an alternative to buying foreign goods that exploit foreign workers and supplement corrupt governments. Many US manufacturers have been aggressively following DEI and EV ideals as shiny objects at the behest of leaders that had financial interests in these industries or were corrupted by lobbyists. Legacy labor costs increasing faster than the costs of products produced, inferior parts made overseas, including steel, are just the low hanging fruit to correct. Yet few step up to support correcting the issue, instead just building more waste… Read more »
The automobile industry does not have a big presence in Illinois.. Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio are the big 3, all dwarfing Illinois. The south is also big with Kentucky, Texas, and Alabama. I don’t agree with you that Canada is a corrupt government with an exploited workforce and the workers in Mexico aren’t exploited either. I can’t speak to corruption within the Mexican government. I also don’t believe DEI has anything to do with this. The U.S., Mexico, and Canada assemble about 17 million vehicles every year with about 10.5 million assembled in the U.S. Suppliers in the U.S. supply… Read more »
I agree totally Both in Europe and the U.S. And now the Trump administration can really harm the North American auto industry with these tariffs. In my mind, the government should stay the hell out of trying to make industrial policy and let the marketplace figure everything out. That means both democrats and republicans.
The government needs to get involved a little more industrial policy IMHO with antitrust laws…Republican Teddy Roosevelt busted the monopolies because even he knew they were bad. Right now it seems as if most industries are monopolies, duopolies, etc. BIG by Matt Stoller on substack gets into this. Antitrust law has gone nowhere in the US because Democrats and big business are in bed together.
Maybe check the loss of freedoms Canadians have had under Trudeau – particularly their health care and the food available in their supply chain. There is plenty of evidence the Mexican government is corrupt, that cartels are paid off regularly by corporations and people are not paid competitive wages – just look at the living conditions in Mexico. Speaking of corruption by foreign governments, take a look at the steel coming from China undermining our industry. Why would any elected leader support steel from China instead of the USA?
We did. It’s just automobiles have gotten way more complicated in the last several years, mainly due to pollution rules, and sometimes it’s more efficient to let someone else do what you used to do. The U.S. auto industry used to be more vertically integrated than it is now. The industry has gone through many changes and the Big 3 have shed a lot of divisions they once owned into separate companies. Then foreign auto makers started building cars in the U.S. for the U.S. market and the supply chain has become even more diverse (not in a DEI sense).

When will the local media in Chicago and in the state of Illinois especially Pritzker stop ranting and raving like little two year olds against Trump, Pritzker please shut your mouth already it’s getting old real fast. Like I’ve mentioned before if this were Biden Pritzker would be on TV ranting how good this would do for the country, he would be applauding.
Trump has done an amazing job in his first two weeks, and I’m going to keep an open mind on tariffs. He seems to have a sense about things that no one else has and every day he amazes me even more. I’m fairly informed, moreso than the average political junkie, but I had no idea that USAID was the virtual beating heart of the leftist NGO movement. Musk/Trump has shut it down within 2 weeks of being in office. Who would have thunk? I’m going to trust Trump on this one.
This USAID story is getting more interesting everyday, sad how taxpayers money was abused for things overseas and not actually aid to those in need, great work President Trump, but of course the corrupt Chicago media is spinning it in a totally different direction.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.

EV mandates screwed up the automotive industry.

I sadly agree with you that Pritzker would probably support the tariffs if Biden had instituted them, even though it’s a terrible idea.
