IL legislator: ‘Nickel and diming’ taxpayers with changes to prevailing wage – Center Square

Very shrewd. Higher wages equal higher taxes on wages equals more money into JB’s piggy bank.

The prevailing wage is why our infrastructure is crumbling, our suburban schools are 70 years old and can’t be repaired without 9 figure bond issues and tax increases, and your roads are full of potholes. The prevailing wage makes it too expensive to upgrade or do routine maintenance. Before long, most of Illinois will become East St. Louis or Ford Heights.

We had a project bid for some remodeling, the prevailing wage bid was $93,000. We found a local contractor who did the job at standard rate for construction. The cost? $36,000
