I believe CC is #1 county nationally for wrongful conviction settlements, suiting CPD, etc. Will this change under Burke? and CC is always one of top counties nationally for $$litigation$$, as Ill Trial Lawyers Assoc is such an integral part of the machine politic.

Don’t forget that Cook County juries are responsible for large, outlandish jury verdicts. Settlements are based solely on the fact that the City knows it will lose at jury trial to a Cook County jury that will bankrupt them. The City has a large legal department of highly qualified attorneys who fight cases tooth and nail. Only after every legal avenue has been exhausted do they settle before trial. I actually don’t blame the City for the predicament they are in. Chicago is a city full of criminals who hate the police and they get punished accordingly.

You are watching the destruction of Chicago. When it is not safe the normal families will leave. Soon only the criminal element will be left, and they are in a cash business.

Even if caught the odds of serious jail time is remote. That’s why you read about some crooks being arrested dozens of times.

You are so right. We always focus on that….the chance of punishment is near zero.

Chicago criminals have green light to rob, loot, burgle as odds of punishment collapse to near zero.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
