Johnson urges state lawmakers to tax the ‘ultra rich’ to avert mass transit cuts – Chicago Sun-Times

“You all know my position. The ultra rich continue to get away with not having to put more skin in the game. So we do have to have substantive conversations around revenue streams that challenges the rich in this state to step up in a way that does not continue to place the burden on working people,” Mayor Brandon Johnson said.

Illinois is top with wealth leaving the state.
Also can’t be done without passing what people clearly said no f…g way to is a progressive tax.

What they SHOULD do it apply a 10% SERVICE (not tax) fee to all public pensions paid to non-residents.
You made you big bucks here, your huge pension, you should contribute back to the state by living here if you don’t pay the service fee.

I sound like a broken record, but once Trump passes “One Big Beautiful Bill” w giant +$40gs SALT cap lift you can be assured in about 2 seconds flat Springfield will use as political cover to re-introduce graduated tax/ millionaires tax. But just like last time with no income caps….because they know the “ultra-rich” Ken Griffins with a few clicks of a button and call to lawyers can move their wealth to Florida in anther 2 seconds. While us chumbalones can’t.

No BJ, your habit of thinking of successful people as Chicago ATMs is why Ken Griffins skin is now in Florida

According to IRS data on AGI leaving IL, haven’t enough “rich” people already left Chicago and IL? If anyone has the means for leaving IL, it’s the ultra rich.
