Even Wal-Mart uses union construction labor in Illinois, at least in the Chicago area, although this is a different situation entirely, as a Wal-Mart location is not government property. The Laborers union is officially known as the Laborers’ International Union Of North America (LiUNA). They are one of the major construction / trades unions. The LiUNA Midwest Region, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, South Dakota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas, is headquartered in Springfield.
