Illinois lawmakers considering new measure to add additional tax to rideshare, delivery services – CBS2 (Chicago)

A spokesperson for Grubhub said, "While we share the state's goal of funding transportation infrastructure, this delivery tax would raise costs for consumers and cut into restaurant sales across the state. Lawmakers should work with the restaurant community on more balanced solutions that don't punish small businesses or the customers who support them."

You want more young people to move out of Chicago?
This is how you do it.
Chicago already has a vitality deficit. Watch it get bigger and bigger.
The Marxists promote the Chicago death spiral through their policies because it’s their only way to remain in power.
They will gladly rule over a wasteland. There are countless examples in history of this.
I don’t think calling Chicago West Detroit is appropriate anymore. North Haiti is more accurate.

I noticed in Lincoln Park area on Sunday the Cafe’s/ Coffee shops were busy – Resturants near dead. People can’t really afford to eat out anymore when lunch is +$40/ person. Not sure how resturants are making it, certainly can’t be much fun. The aryicle the other day on fines averaging +$125/ resident is staggering. I have a novel idea – make the public unions figure it out amongst themselves, and leave taxpayers the hell out of it. They got their ‘allowance’, now they need to make choices.

Illinois voters keep choosing candidates that want more and more spending and can’t imagine cutting any expenses so not sure what people expect. Until voters make different choices you should expect more taxes. It’s what the voters want.

My goodness. The restaurant pays property tax through its rent or by owning its building, it pays income tax, payroll taxes, sales tax on the ingredients and supplies it uses, pays for business licenses. The delivery driver pays income tax, sales tax on the purchase of the vehicle, pays the nations largest gas tax, pays for registration fees and ales tax on vehicle maintenance. The customer pays sales tax and a delivery tax. The number of taxes and fees is endless. What’s next, a per egg cracking fee? All that against a backdrop of a government with a voracious appetite… Read more »

Chicago is still the powerhouse of Illinois. That hasn’t changed nor will it any time soon. The rest of Illinois would actually need to grow and become meaningful.

That kind of thinking will be the city and state’s downfall as it shrinks in relevance to better business climates and growing cities in Texas, Tennessee, Florida and Arizona. The electoral votes will continue to shrink until real change is in place – so go ahead and tax to motivate more people to leave.

What kind of thinking? Discussing the truth rather than dealing in make believe? Chicago will remain the power house of the state. The rest of the state’s economy is garbage compared to Chicago. 2/3 of the voters live in the Chicago and collar counties. That population has grown slightly over the last 15 years while the rest of the state is losing voters.

Tax, tax, tax, does not seem to be an end to it. Ever wonder why people are fleeing to other states?
