Illinois lawmaker introduces bill that could hinder Chicago Bears’ move to suburb – Chicago Tribune/Yahoo
State Rep. Kam Buckner’s bill would require, among other things, that any subsidies received by teams be repaid with interest if a franchise fails to meet its commitments or relocates. In addition, under Buckner’s proposed legislation, sports franchises would instead have to reimburse schools, libraries and emergency services for property taxes lost as a result of stadium agreements.

Chicago police originally responded to a call of a crash at the scene and one white SUV was towed. It appears that the law enforcement officers involved in the standoff were federal agents.
Ald. Anthony Quezada told Crain’s the head tax is an “essential tool,” because the city’s hands are tied on what kind of revenue options we have at our disposal. “We owe the people of Chicago wealth redistribution that actually is going to invest in our communities and uplift people,” he said.
