It’s really comical that Chicago voted for this guy. Did you not expect what you are getting? As a former Chicagoan and Illinoisan, I think a head tax for Chicago businesses is a great idea. Double the tax. Triple it. I’m sure it will end just as your central committee members at the union envision.
How about wealth distribution from JBs share of his family investments? He can donate as much of his trust fund as he wants right to the state. I am sure his dem voters would use the cash responsibly.
Another stupid idea from Johnson to force business out of Chicago. How about cutting wasteful spending and spending on illegals?
Once again, in typical government mindset, by all means don’t cut spending but look for ways to raise and/or add new taxes. Got to keep the peasants and the serfs on the plantation!
Just giving the voters what they voted for. Blame the politicians all you want but they are merely the result of ignorant voters. We are getting the government we deserve.
Pensions costs are causing City government to destroy the city. They are burning the businesses that are the life blood of the city. This will end up with more and more businesses fleeing the state. If you care about your employees, leave the state ASAP.

Amazing that people are dumb enough to believe that government is the source of wealth redistribution. Where does it say that it is the role of government to “lift you up?” After all the millions why doesn’t BJ trot out all the success stories? Show everyone how wealth redistribution has succeeded in an area. Can he show us one success?

The Chicago voters love all that rhetoric. The idea that the “other guy” can and will pay for their needs is quite intoxicating. Conservatives can pretend that this is some “gotcha” statement but the voters seem to love it.

Not odd at all as both are the truth. You consistently get confused by my comments because I deal in truth not fantasy or wishful thinking. Most of the voters are stupid and yet that is the system of government that we have in place. We don’t just let old ladies from DG suburb decide our government.
As long as the voters don’t violate our constitution we are stuck following the majority rules. If we don’t like that, we can try to convince our neighbors, friends, and fellow voters to change their vote or we can move.

PPF, despite constant proclamations from his soapbox, is not the sole arbiter of truth. “It’s what the voters want!” is pretty weak stew. Of course, that’s the only way to try to justify what public unions have done to this state.
If I owned a business in Chicago, I would look for another city or small town to conduct business. Chicago taxes are killing the consumers. Mayor Johnson’s ideas on how to “fill the hole” are more taxes. Just stop giving those crazy raises, supporting illegal immigrants. Of course, there are several other alternitive methods.
I asked a friend who owns a small Chicago business ( 21 people) what his thoughts were. He said he’ll just get himself a place in the burbs . He borders a suburb . So location isn’t a problem
And when all of the business moves out of downtown who will they tax. It hasn’t recovered from the “Pandemic” yet.

A head tax is the dumbest tax imaginable. The more jobs you create the higher the tax.
