“People that I represent in the greater Peoria area got absolutely robbed on this,” state Rep. Travis Weaver said. “Historically, the Road Fund split has been about 55 percent downstate, 45 percent for Chicagoland. Now that’s 85 percent Chicagoland and only 15 percent for downstate where the vast majority of our road miles are.”
That’s what Chicago Transit has dissolved into. Political hiring and wasting taxpayer money on a service less and less customers line up for every year.
Good luck getting political animals to cede power and/or derail the gravy train.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
How about a far increase that hasn’t happened in nearly 10 YEARS!
What that bill should have included was a requirement to eliminate wasteful spending and political hires.
