Illinois tax collections are up $1.6 billion year-over-year for fiscal year 2026 (FY26) through the end of January, according to the Illinois Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability. This uptick in tax receipts reflects a 5.3 percent increase from fiscal year 2025 (FY25).
Tax collections are up by over a BILLION dollars, yet Pritzker and his progressives want to grab even more. I would love to see someone in the media ask them on camera “At what point would you say you have enough money and stop calling for more tax revenue?”
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
Thank God for Trumps economy.
