Editorial: Illinois should consider pragmatic tweaks to its sanctuary law – Chicago Tribune/Yahoo

"For our part, it seems obvious — and something that the overwhelming (number) of residents of this blue state would support — that a law barring state and local law enforcement from cooperating to deport convicted violent criminals in this country illegally should be amended to allow for that. And do so without going through the bureaucratic hoops of obtaining a judicial warrant."

Just cut the phrase “Sanctuary City” from our title. Nothing more needs to be done

Isn’t Illinois Fun?

It’s simple common sense that there should be proactive cooperation to rid us of illegals who commit crimes sufficient to land them in jail or prison. Is there truly a need or justification for any city or state to declare sanctuary status? We have immigration, civil, and criminal laws; follow and enforce those. States and cities should be urging illegals to take the necessary steps toward legal status, inconvenient as they may be. The rhetoric and behavior of Pritzker, Johnson, etc has been destructive, divisive, harmful, and financially disastrous.
