"Suffice to say, though, the city right now is akin to a household living paycheck to paycheck that must take out payday loans to pay for a car repair."
The fact that the Tribune continues to endorse any democrats says it all. The democratic party, especially in Illinois, is a criminal organization. It’s members are, one and all, thieves, leeches, scumbags and degenerates. And the people that vote for them are the same except that I would add subhuman idiots to the list.

Not mentioned in this article is Chicago still owes police officers about 150 million in overtime pay that has been ordered by the courts. This iis in addition to another 260 million that is owed to employe pension funds by the city. Chicago city government is financially swirling around the drain with political leaders unwilling to face reality and make the cuts that are needed.

“It’s worse than we thought.” Really? Is the Tribune grotesquely stupid or just willfully ignorant? Maybe if you removed your mouth from a certain part of the democrat’s anatomy, you would have thought of it sooner? The tribune and the sun-times and the rest of Chicago main stream media is just a propaganda arm for the left. The only thing the sun-times writes about is ICE and TDS.

“It’s worse than we thought.” “Scoop and Toss”. The city is borrowing money for operating expenses and then borrowing money to pay the interest on the money it borrowed. Do you idiots have any idea how screwed up this is? When I was a kid, we had a term for living like this. Why don’t you put a fence around Cook County, call it a zoo and charge visitors a fee to watch the animals throw excrement at each other. Who of you believes this is fixable? Look at the people in charge. Look at the people you see and… Read more »

If fiscal responsibility were an Olympic sport, Chicago would be training for the wrong event. While the bond rating slides and the bills stack up, City Hall keeps perfecting the art of spending money it doesn’t have on priorities no one voted for. Nothing says “long-term stability” like shrugging at the credit agencies and doubling down anyway. Leadership matters. Managing one of America’s great cities isn’t an entry-level position or a reward for union loyalty. It requires competence, experience, and the courage to say “no” when the math doesn’t work. Voters face a simple choice: elect proven, qualified leaders who… Read more »
The Olympic analogy is a good one. Every city that hosts the games loses money. Confiscated taxpayer funds were tossed by the truckload into the event to make up the difference.
Meanwhile, the political animals point to what a great party it was. Never mind those maxed-out credit cards…
it’s way past elections. There is nobody running for anything in Illinois who has any chance of winning, who isn’t bought and paid for. Even if there was, your electorate is either subhuman in their intelligence or just plain bloodsuckers. I would like to think Ted Dabrowski could do some good, but he will not be allowed to win and even if he does, he will not be allowed to change the status quo. The system was rigged while you all slept. The democrats hoodwinked you dolts into thinking they were for the little man and the Illinois public school… Read more »

“The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money” – Margaret Thatcher The lefty rag formerly known as The Trib now feigns surprise at the financial mess that Chicago now finds itself. It is their ignorance and deference to Illinois’ political animals that led directly to this mess. The Useless Chicago Media, including The Trib and the odious NPR rag Sun-Times, are the first to step up with sob stories of people who have gladly accepted the so-called ‘free and reduced cost stuff’ promised by political animals and paid for with confiscated taxpayer funds who… Read more »
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
