The state has invested $9.9 million into the program since it launched 13 months ago. More than 12,000 students registered for Kaplan's free test prep courses.  Governor Pritzker is recommending a $7 million appropriation for the program in FY27.

Let’s give free access to private companies who can get kids ready for the test! Isn’t this an admission of the failure of public education to do the job?

This should not be a taxpayer expense. Enough with the freebies until we have the jobs to support trained workers. Anyone scoring well on the test will likely move out of state for better opportunities anyway. I don’t blame people for using the resource but it is ridiculous for taxpayers to pay for everything.
