Domestic violence homicides up 15% in Chicago; Cook County creates specialized unit to prosecute – CBS2 (Chicago)

The state's attorney's office is also trying to prevent deaths by requesting detention for felony domestic battery offenders at a much higher rate. The detention rate has risen from 54 percent to 81 percent.

There has always been domestic violence however it was swept under the rug to lower the crime rate. Now its showing its ugly head

And just wait till they start realizing that minorities are represented in a higher proportion than their percentage in the population!
