Illinois paying big price for high cost of leaving – Yahoo Finance/News-Gazette

Imposing higher taxes requires having enough people to tax. It's a balancing act that requires ensuring that those who pay the most feel they're getting their money's worth. Illinois apparently is failing that test, and the consequences are severe.

“The Center for Budget and Tax Accountability (CTBA) is a nonprofit organization based in Chicago that advocates for social and economic justice through evidence-based public policy analysis.” Yep. This is Ralphie Martire’s NGO. CTBA claims to be bipartisan in that they antagonize both parts of the Illinois Combine to try and confiscate mote money from taxpayers. Bipartisan my <posterior>. According to its 990, Ralphie’s CTBA has had its budget get inflated in recent years, as has its payroll. Who are the donors to this slush fund? As Larry Lujack used to say, “Doesn’t say, Little Tommy.” From his own writings,… Read more »

I hope the illegal immigrants can cover the taxes when outmigrants are gone. And Martire has just made himself sound as dumb as Braindead and Putzger

Taxpayers will lose big-time; the public-sector unions are declared the winner. Many of them will take their large pensions to another lower tax state. No one likes high taxes and low services.

In Florida. I was surrounded by the sheer number of Illinois and New York expatriates. Even more delightful were the ones retired with six-figure pensions (paid first, of course). Illinois taxpayers are shelling out for these pensions and Illinois political animals won’t even get their greasy hands on the expatriates’ property taxes, sales taxes, cell phone taxes, over taxes, under taxes and all the other taxes that Illinois chumbolones get stuck with.

You forgot to mention at a very young age they retire and then move out of state.

Pension envy at play here. Yes, even now many former IL residents still think life’s a beach for many FL residents.

No envy, the facts are that excessive pension costs have destroyed Chicago and Illinois for generations to come. It will only get worse, much worse for the residents who stay.

Au contraire, mon frère! The human mind tends to value or denigrate every intrusion it notices according to one’s belief systems. One man’s treasure often becomes another’s junk and vice-versa.

Wait until Martire moves in next door to you in Florida because taxes are too high in IL.

Is Martire an idiot? He says IL has a revenue problem, not a spending problem. Where does he think the revenue is going to come from? Tax policy? Got to be additional taxes, whether it’s millionaires or middle class. Yet, IRS statistics show how many taxpayers left and how much they took with them. Will additional taxes stop the outmigration? When taxpayers see over 40% of revenue go to pensions and interest and the debt still increasing, they see no value in staying. Common sense, Ralph. What’s the point of no return for IL?

Dems in Taxistan are going to learn a hard lesson.

Taxpayers have feet and they will vote with them when they feel their taxes have reached an oppressive level.

Its basically a Death Spiral for Taxistan IMO!!
